Bivacchi
The refuges are located within the Monti della Laga natural park, above the Amatrice plain. The partly existing path, called SI 300, is located on the border of three regions (Marche, Abruzzo, Lazio), and crosses almost all the peaks of the Laga mountains.
The project consists of the redevelopment of the two bivouacs and the linking of the two structures through the valorization of the path that connects them, a 40 km long route that touches all the peaks of the Laga mountains, following the border line of the three regions, with western exposure on the Amatrice plain. The artistic project will consist of an installation, developed through the implementation of lighting inside the two buildings, made up of hand-crafted neon tubes and the photovoltaic system that will produce energy, designed specifically for the spaces; a performative part, presented through a feature film, which will tell the story of the 40 km walk that I will personally do and which will inaugurate the path.
A simple action that arises from the desire to trigger another vision process, where above the highest point it is possible to observe and manage to appropriate the surrounding territory.
On September 27th, within the personal exhibition, Media Montagna in the Ducal Palace of Urbino, National Gallery of the Marche, the lights designed for these two refuges, these 4 tubes about 2 meters long each, represent the path that unites the two bivouacs. In spring 2019, I will position the lighting inside the spaces, the lights will be powered by solar panels positioned on the roof of the buildings and connected to a circuit that will store the energy, so that they can function 24 hours a day. Once installed the last neon, I will open the path for the first time, covering the 40 km of the route in two days.
